Laundry or Car Payment?!?

So I went to do laundry today, one of my least preferred tasks.  I arrived there at the same time as a woman who had about 10 garbage bags full of stuff.  All in all it was probably the same amount of laundry as I was doing with my 5 large and compressed baskets full.

The difference, she was dropping hers off to have the laundry place do it for her.  It costs me approximately 3 hours of time and ~40 in cash (including detergent) every 2 weeks for a family of 4.  I asked the laundry attendant how much that much laundry would cost to do, she said that it came out to over $160.  OMFG talk about profitable business!  I have no idea how people can easily throw out $320 a month just to do laundry!

The attendant said that the woman is just really busy.  My wife and I both have demanding jobs, a 6 year old and a 10 month old...  I fear how much busier people would need to be to justify a full car payment just for laundry!  At that rate you could probably even pay for a maid service to come to your house every week and do it for you and get a good bathroom cleaning to boot!

And all the while, I'm having a funny feeling this family will be the first to complain about the taxes out there being too high.
